Two women were killed in a crash on the Queen Elizabeth Highway in Burlington, Ontario. Identified by police on Tuesday morning.

Authorities were summoned around 6 am after a four-car crash on QEW’s Brandt Street.

Police said the vehicle crossed the westbound lane to the eastbound lane and there was a serious collision.

According to police, the vehicle, the Mitsubishi Lancer, collided with an Acura and Ford pickup truck, and a fourth vehicle rolled into the ditch.

Two people were sentenced to death at the scene, one was taken to a trauma center in severe condition and the other two were taken to a local hospital.

Officials said the two dead were related to a woman at Mitsubishi who crossed the wide ditch that separates the west and east lanes.

The victims were identified as Ceara Publuske, a resident of Kitchener, and Courtney Duguay, a resident of Owen Sound.

Police said Publuske was the driver of the vehicle and Duguay was the passenger. The age of women is not disclosed.

The QEW highway was closed in both directions most days, but the lane to Niagara was reopened on Brandt Street just before 3 pm.

After that, the lane to Toronto resumed after 4 pm.
