An Ontario teacher, who was “fully healthy” before being infected with COVID-19, has been intubated to a hospital in Toronto, according to an infectious disease doctor.

Dr. Abdusha Kawi, who works at the Toronto Western Hospital, said a 47-year-old teacher tested positive for COVID-19 after contacting a student who was also positive.

For confidentiality reasons, Sharkawy is unable to provide specific details about the patient.

“This is absolutely heartbreaking,” Shakawi said on Saturday. “There is a lack of adjectives to explain how calm, traumatic, and tragic this situation is.”

Sharkawy said his situation indicates that teachers are not properly protected from COVID-19.

He said teachers were not provided with proper personal protective equipment, the class size was too large and much was not done to deal with ventilation problems.

“We have to protect our teachers,” he said. “For some reason this myth that schools cannot infect this virus must end. Our teachers need better protection, they need more dignity and respect, and they Needs a vaccine. “

“What we have done now is somehow decide that they are okay. It is unacceptable to protect ourselves. Teachers will die.”

The closure of Ontario is just a “strategy”

Sharkawy also aimed at Ontario’s latest COVID-19 shutdown, saying “it’s a trick to shut down the entire state altogether.”

“It wouldn’t help,” he said. “The root cause of this problem needs to be addressed.”

He said essential workers, especially those working in a collective environment, need urgent access to paid sick leave, promote quarantine, and better inspection.

“They need a guarantee that they don’t have to decide whether to put food on the table or go to the ventilator ICU,” he said.

“We are tired of seeing people experience this and no longer support it.”

Ontario has reported more than 6,000 COVID-19 cases in the last two days and recorded more than 3,000 new cases daily.

The state has not recorded more than 3,000 new cases per day since January.
