At the Headwaters Healthcare Center (HHCC), an average of 14,000 residents seek medical assistance each year due to heart problems in the hospital.

Headwaters is hosting the Have a Heart for Headwaters Initiative for the second year in a row to raise money to support heart care in hospitals.

Kendramantler, Community and Corporate Engagement Coordinator for the Headwaters Healthcare Foundation, said: “We need tools and equipment to stabilize these patients before they are transferred to affiliated hospitals for specialized medical care or before they are discharged.

Unfortunately, hospitals don’t receive government funding to buy the equipment they need, so they need community support.

“Last year, this initiative allowed us to purchase a Cardiac Telemetry Pack from Headwaters. The device monitors the heart to monitor heart rate patterns, find out if there is a heart rate problem, and how the drug works. Make sure it works for you, “explains Mantler.

To make this initiative a success, local businesses in the area have begun to work with hospitals to raise the necessary funding.

AuntieJoy’s Spring Rolls and Catering Services has partnered with Headwaters to offer an initiative to donate 10% of orders over $ 10 until January 31st. The initiative will start in February, but Auntie Joy wanted to start a little earlier.

“When I contacted me to see if Headwaters could help with the fundraising, I wanted to help,” said Joy Bradley, also known as Auntie Joy. “I love the Headwaters Healthcare Center. People were so kind and friendly that I didn’t have to wait long whenever I was there.”

“It’s a great honor for them to serve our community,” she said.

Fortunately, Auntie Joy’s Spring Rolls and Catering Services were able to float during the pandemic, allowing Auntie Joy to give back.

“My business doesn’t suffer so much from the COVID-19 virus, so I know a lot of previous donors who can’t afford to help at this point, so I felt obliged to help,” said Aunt Joy. It was. “I’m happy to help you in this little way.”

Headwaters aims to raise community help to raise $ 25,000 to support heart treatment at Headwaters in February.

“There are several local businesses that support us during this initiative,” Mantler said.
