Social media posts appear to point to a spokesman for the Alberta Minister of Education, who is on vacation in Hawaii during the COVID-19 pandemic.

After more than 24 hours, Global News has not yet received an answer from the UCP government on this issue.

An image of Michael Folian, spokesman for Adriana Lagrange, was shared online on Tuesday.

Travel recommendations from both the federal and state governments advise all Canadians to avoid non-essential travel abroad.

Alberta Health states that people “should avoid non-essential travel.” Exemptions are made for specific industries and compassionate reasons.

All non-exempt travelers entering and leaving Alberta from outside Canada are legally required to:

  • 14-day quarantine (quarantine)
  • Monitor symptoms
  • Test for symptoms and isolate for at least 10 days after symptoms begin, or for the longer period of time until you feel better.

Global News has contacted both the UCP government and Folian himself. I will update this article if I get a reply.

Forian’s Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts appear to have been deleted after the images were widely shared on social media.
